How to spray paint my bike well?

So i just got a bike from Wal mart, its blue and decorated with some stickers. The bike's original blue color is glossy and real smooth. I was planning to simply remove the stickers and simply spray paint the bike frame with some Krylon black paint. Will this easy process come out clean? And if not, whats an efficient way to simply just get some nice black paint on the bike?

Answer:

If you want a high-gloss finish, you're out of luck with a spray can. If you want a satin finish or flat black finish, you can get good results with Rustoleum for metal (in Satin or flat). Also, Duplicolor (available at autoparts stores) utilizes certain nozzles on their spray cans that can do a good job, but you'll need to clear coat as well (again for a high gloss finish). This takes time (several coats) and patience and a steady hand (not to mention a large dust-free work area and breathing mask).
If I was doing it, I'd recommend stripping all the parts, masking off anything you don't want painted, and take it to a local body shop and say, "I'll give you $25 if you give this a coat of black the next time you do a black paintjob." I've done this a few times, and since you've done all the prep work (pre-sand the original finish), you can get a really nice "pro" paint job on the cheap.
Good luck!
