HELP!! How to know if mechanic actually changed my radiator, fan clutch and thermostat on my 1998 bmw 528i?
today he said he changed radiator. i asked for the old radiator he said its already garbaged.. tomorow hes going to change fan clutch, thermostat i sed keep the parts cos i wanna see it or its the last time he'l ever see again. should i trust this mofo?? i hate people who takes advantage. specialy when they know that you know little about certain things.
Answer:
Best way to tell is look at the production date on the fan clutch. The year will be 2 numbers in a circle it also has a mark for the month of production too. As to the thermostat since you can't see it when its installed you can't tell. However if you know right where your gauge is usually it may slightly change position. If my 98 528i needed a fan clutch and a thermostat I would also change the water pump and all the hoses its that important. These cars just have to have a complete cooling system change ever 140k or so. IT is VERY important.
