BMW SWAP, will a e38 differential fit in a e36?
im thinking of a project, just bought my buddies smashed 2001 740il and was thinking instead of parting the car, swap the diff, engine, trans and brakes to a 98 318ti with a dead motor.
im sure theres some modifying but how much? is it like doing an m3 diff swap where you need to cut some bracket out of the way?
also the widths of the differentials and axels. also a concern of mine is the drive shaft, would i need a custom one or can i use sometype of bmw shaft?
the cars arent with me for a few more days so i cant do any measurements but does anyone have any input on this?
any info on a 740 to 318ti swap? i hear a german company Hartage packed a V12 from a 750il into a 318ti.

It would take more work than the car is worth...
Going from a 7 to a 3 could probably be done but it would be like a "hotrod" mod or something like that and you can probably do it as long as you are willing to make quite a few custom parts and know how to weld pretty good. It could be a fun project but it won't be like you are able to just drop the stuff into place...
